Helsinki Pride 2024 is organized from 24 to 30 June 2024, and I can feel the excitement in the air! For those who aren't familiar, Helsinki Pride is a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, held annually in the heart of Finland's capital. It began as a small gathering in the late 1970s and has grown into one of the largest Pride events in the Nordic region. The festival promotes equality, human rights, and solidarity, offering a platform for voices that need to be heard. Walking through the streets during Pride week, you'll see colorful parades, joyful faces, and an overwhelming sense of unity and acceptance. It's a time when Helsinki transforms into a beacon of love, inclusion, and diversity.

Growing up in a rather conservative family and society, I didn't have much exposure to LGBTQ+ issues. My mother, in particular, held quite traditional views. However, everything changed one summer when she visited me in Finland. I suggested we attend the Helsinki Pride parade together, not knowing what to expect. The experience was eye-opening for both of us. The vibrant atmosphere, the joyous celebrations, and the powerful messages of love and acceptance left a deep impression on us. My mother's perspective began to shift as she witnessed firsthand the importance of such events in promoting understanding and inclusivity. This transformation made me realize how vital it is to celebrate and support diversity. Inspired by this experience, I design a joyful and meaningful Rainbow Collection that supports the LGBTQ+ community and embraces a diverse society, including various sexual orientations and cultures.
